Privacy Policy
CabinCam is a dashcam app designed with privacy at its core. This policy explains what data CabinCam accesses, how it is used, and your choices.
Data that stays on your device
Video recordings, thumbnails, and clip metadata otherwise remain on your device. CabinCam has no server, no cloud storage, and no backend. Location coordinates may be sent to Apple's geocoding service for the street-name overlay, and clips leave your phone only when you explicitly choose to share or export them using the system share sheet or mail composer, or save them to Photos.
Camera and microphone
CabinCam uses the rear camera to display a live preview and record driving footage. The microphone is used only when you enable the "Record audio" setting; it is never accessed otherwise. Camera and microphone data is written directly to local storage and is not transmitted anywhere.
Location
When you grant location permission, CabinCam reads your position while the app is open to calculate your current speed, display it on the recording overlay, and optionally retain a local route history for trip replay. Location coordinates may be embedded in the video overlay of recorded clips. Route history stays on this device and is deleted with its clips; it is not synced or exported by default. To show a street name on the overlay, coordinates are sent to Apple's geocoding service; Apple processes these lookups under its own privacy policy and CabinCam receives only the place name back. Location is never collected in the background and, aside from those Apple geocoding lookups, is not shared with any other party.
Photo library
CabinCam requests write-only access to your photo library solely when you choose to save a clip. It does not read or browse your existing photos or videos.
Device sensors
CabinCam uses the accelerometer to detect sudden impacts and automatically lock the corresponding clip from being recycled. Sensor data is processed in real time on the device and is not stored or transmitted.
Analytics and tracking
CabinCam does not include any analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, or tracking technologies. No usage data, device identifiers, or behavioral information is collected or shared with third parties.
Accounts and personal information
CabinCam does not require or offer user accounts. No personal information such as your name, email, or phone number is collected by the app.
Storage management
CabinCam manages a configurable on-device storage budget (10, 20, or 40 GB). When the budget is reached, the oldest unlocked clips are automatically recycled. Locked clips are retained until you manually delete them. All storage operations happen locally.
Third-party services
CabinCam does not integrate with any third-party services for data collection, advertising, or analytics. The only external interactions are location coordinates sent to Apple's geocoding service for the street-name overlay; clips shared through the system share sheet or mail composer; and clips saved to Photos when you explicitly use the save-to-library action with write-only access.
Children's privacy
CabinCam is not directed at children under 13. Because the app does not collect any personal information, there is no data to manage in this regard.
Changes to this policy
If this policy is updated, the revised version will be published on this page. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated accordingly.
